Over the past few days and in light of the upcoming holidays, we have been closely monitoring both our student and staff illness rates and the winter storm that is about to hit our region.
At Northstar Elementary, for example, we have experienced more than a 10% illness rate since last Wednesday. As of 5:00 p.m. today, a winter storm watch is set to begin Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. and last until Saturday at 6:00 a.m.
Per the calendar, our winter break starts Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. However, given the factors above, we believe it would be in the best interest of our students, staff, and families to begin break at the end of the evening activities on Tuesday, December 20.
There will be no school on Wednesday, December 21. Because this will only impact instruction by five hours, we will not be making up this time. School will resume on Thursday, January 5, 2023.
