Knoxville Middle School Ribbon Cutting

The Knoxville Community School District along with the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce hosted a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the grand opening of the new Knoxville Middle School at 4:30 p.m. on September 30, 2022.

On March 3, 2020, the community of Knoxville approved a bond vote to build the new middle school. The project broke ground on March 24, 2021. The site of the new middle school is located to the north of Knoxville High School.

The new facility features a 21st century learning environment, with amazing academic spaces, flexible areas with natural light for students to collaborate in small groups, a courtyard and KCSD's first storm shelter, which also doubles as the band and choir room.

The Knoxville Community School District opened the building to the public following the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for students, families, alumni and community members to tour the facility. The ceremony falls between the Knoxville High School Homecoming Parade and the KHS Varsity Football game at Ken Locke Stadium.

“We are grateful to our community for their support of this project and can’t wait to welcome them into this new building,” said Cassi Pearson, Superintendent. “Our children will have an abundant amount of learning opportunities that were not possible in the old building. We are so excited for community members to see these amazing new spaces for themselves.”
