Return to Learn Plans

KCSD RtL Plans

Dear Families and Community Members,

At its meeting Monday night, the Knoxville Community School District Board of Education approved the Return to Learn Plans for our district overall, each of our four schools, and our activities.
These plans outline the delivery model we will use to start the 2020-21 school year. We plan to begin the school year with a full return of our students and staff to our buildings, with a virtual option for students whose families request it.
It is also important to note that we may need to change our approach as the school year progresses. For example, a mandate from the state could result in us moving to a hybrid model that combines in-person and virtual learning to reduce the number of students in our buildings at any given time. We could also need to move to all online learning at some point during the school year. These plans will be shared in the next few weeks. It is important to us that our families clearly understand each model, and we believe sharing one plan at a time will make this easier.
Additionally, the plans offer details on the measures we will take to minimize risks for students and staff. This includes encouraging social distancing and requiring the use of face coverings for all students and staff.
We encourage you to review the Return to Learn plans for our district and each of our schools at the following links:

The first day of school is Thursday, August 20. We look forward to seeing our students back in our buildings once again. As always, thank you for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

Cassi Pearson, Superintendent
Knoxville Community School District
