Knoxville Middle School Building Project

A rendering of the new Knoxville Middle School building

On March 3, 2020, the community of Knoxville voted in favor of a bond that would allow the building of a new Knoxville Middle School (KMS), temporary air conditioning units at the current KMS and Northstar Elementary, and HVAC updates at Knoxville High School (KHS). The new KMS building will be located just to the north of KHS as seen in the map to the right. The two buildings will be connected by gym space. Each building will have its own, sperate student entrance.

The new KMS building will be two stories and embody a 21st Century learning environment. It will be home to two gymnasiums, an indoor walking track, and a new weight room.

The construction on the project began with a ground breaking ceremony on March 24, 2021 and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2022.

All projects listed above will cost approximately $29 million and will be 100% financed through property taxes.

"Our students and staff are going to have opportunities that we couldn’t provide in the old building, and that’s really exciting. Our community has been supportive. We thank you for getting out to vote. We also ask for your patience. The next year and a half, we know there’s going to be some inconveniences, we know there’s going to be some fences that go up, and some areas that might be off limits for a short period of time. We truly believe that in the end, it’s going to be well worth that short term inconvenience." - Cassi Pearson, Superintendent
