3/30/2017 ACTIVITIES UPDATE:
*Knoxville senior Shannon Yocum performed at the Iowa State High School Speech Association’s Individual Event All-State festival. This was held at the University of Northern Iowa on Monday March 27, 2017. Of the approximately 10,000 students who will perform in individual event speech only a portion of them get to go to state speech where there are three judges. The three judges at state speech will nominate outstanding performers to participate and speech in the All-State festival. This year there were 464 performers at All-State of the nearly 10,000 that participated in speech.
*Shannon did a spectacular job on her piece in solo musical theatre. She performed “Climbing uphill” from the musical The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown. Performers received judges critiques and medals.
*Congratulations to the Knoxville State Qualifying Mock Trial Team! Nyan Baker was awarded All-State Outstanding Attorney. Maddi Graves earned All-State Honorable Mention Outstanding Witness. Also receiving nominations were Tierney Heffron & Ethan Murra as attorneys and Asa Leonard & Trent Walraven as witnesses.
*Knoxville sophomore Mickayla McGill advanced to state competition in public speaking for FFA. Mickayla first advanced from subdistricts to districts and then received 1st place at districts to advance to state. Mickayla will speak at the state competition on Monday, April 10th in Ames.
